But a handful of tickets remain on sale for this weekend’s Indiependence Music and Arts festival, taking place in Mitchlestown, Co Cork.
Kodaline and UK dance act Basement Jaxx are among headliners at there festival, which celebrates its tenth birthday this year and has duly delivered a strong line-up that also includes Ash, the Mark Lanegan Band and The Dandy Warhols.
Securing the services of Basement Jaxx and arguably the biggest Irish band of the past 12 months in Kodaline is quite a coup for Dunne and his team, who have been quietly growing the 5,000 capacity festival in recent years and is loudly establishing itself as one of the best run and popular festivals in the land.
The line-up for the weekend is shaping up to feature Kodaline on Sunday, while Basement Jaxx play Friday, Ash on Saturday and The Dandy Warhols join Kodaline on Sunday night. A full day-by-day breakdown of the festival - plus ticket information - is available anseo!
Now the headliners don't need any encouragement so we thought we'd recommend a couple of the other must see bands that you'll find playing about the site over the 3 days
Columbia Mills – Friday: Big Top Stage @ 4.30pm
From the unsuspecting seaside town of Bray on Ireland's east coast emerge Columbia Mills. A collective tour de force creating a head-onistic mix of musical textures, reverb saturated guitars, glorious beats & beautiful tragic sounds.
Imagine the Jesus and Mary chain making a 'Screamadelica' and you're close. Seriously one of Ireland's most exciting bands!
Neon Wolf – Saturday: Beer Hall Stage @ 6pm
Kilkenny doesn't just produce great hurlers, these lads have a dance bothering blend of power pop with a nice indie edge!
The Would Be’s – Sunday: Beer Hall Stage @ 9.30pm
It was back in the 90s: after being championed by John Peel, touring with Morrissey, making NME‘s and Melody Maker’s 'single of the week' on several occasions and finally having to choose a signing with one of fourteen record labels, The Would Be’s rising star suddenly imploded.
With a triumphant comeback after two decades away from the music scene, The Would Be’s returned to the studio in 2013 and released what was incredibly their first album, ‘Beautiful Mess’. The release saw the band enjoy some long-overdue critical acclaim. A definite must see!
Kelly Anne Byrne - Saturday: Bicardi Bar @ 8pm
Ah, we had to... but seriously our own K.A.B is one of the best live DJ's in the country as she blends a gorgeous mix of disco, funk and soul that will have you bopping' till you dropping'! Drop in and groove out!
