With Sunday tickets already sold out, early bird Picnickers still have time to catch the proverbial worm. Midnight 4th July is the deadline to avail of weekend tickets for €194.50, and what better reason to remind you than to announce the treats in store down in Trenchtown – the Jamaican jewel nestled deep in the forest. This year is set to be the biggest Trenchtown yet with more music, cuisine, dance and performance, a true immersion in Reggae culture.
Now in its 6th year, the Jamaican Village in the woods of Stradbally heralds another exciting music bill of Irish and International artists hot on the Reggae, Ska, Dub and Dancehall music scene. This year we celebrate the ‘Roots & Culture’ Jamaica and Ireland share.

After a long career in the reggae music business as a top sound-man and producer, SOLO BANTON began his solo career as a recording artist after linking with Kris Kemist of Reality Shock. Kemist persuaded him to jump in the booth and record a track called ‘The Warning’ and the rest is history. Solo is a natural born entertainer who was immediately recognised for his vintage deejay style and intelligent (often comical) lyrical content.
Hailing from Edinburgh, CAPITOL 1212 have been cutting records since 2007. Dave Boyd (Fly T) and Kenny Dargan (Professa Fresh) met on the independent D.J club scene. To date, the super duo have released numerous tracks, EPs and re-mixes for various artists including the much sought after vinyl edition EP 'Raw and Disorder' featuring highly respected U.S emcee's Grandmaster Caz and Donald D. In March 2014 the duo released their first feature L.P Capitol 1212 will be joined by M.A.D (Mike Daniels) best known for his infectious vocals on the Dancehall Influenced anthem 'Superstylin' by Dance duo Groove Armada who featured on ‘Worldwide Echo’.
Canadian born JAH LEX is a musician, producer, vocalist and the founder of Reggae Bash Festival in Quebec and is set to release ‘Dem Get A Slew’ with legendary artist ‘Capleton’ this summer. Having delivered a storming set at Ireland’s ‘Festival Of Culture’ in Jamaica he sealed his debut slot at this year’s Picnic.
Chart topper Mr. WILLIAMZ burst onto the reggae scene in 2008 with his smash hit debut single 'Babylon in Helicopter' (Produced by Necessary Mayhem) which achieved huge chart success in Europe and No 1 in the U.S singles charts . Since then he has become one of the most promising reggae/dancehall artistes from f London.
Founders of the independent reggae/bass music label ‘Irish Moss Records’ Dirty Dubsters aka Barry O’Brien and Jason Rymer are stalwarts among the Irish Reggae Community. Just back on Irish soil following a Canadian, US and UK tour Dirty Dubsters most recently released current single ‘Ol Bongo Cart’ featuring UK reggae artiste ‘Dark Angel’.
CIAN FINN from the west of Ireland will represent the Celtic roots. Known for his vibrant onstage presence and impassioned voice, Cian’s shows voyage through reggae rhythms to bouncing dubstep, interspersed with soulful A cappella moments has become one of Ireland’s most revered exports on the worldwide reggae scene.
And that’s just for starters as they turn up da heat in true ‘Yard’ style with …….

Elsewhere in the spirited Jamaican village, Cork based REVELATION SOUND SYSTEM are in residence and powering the ‘ROOTS INNA DA WOODS’ arena while the brand new ‘IRIELAND ACOUSTIC STAGE’ will honour the traditional music roots from Ireland & Jamaica.
THE TREASURE BEACH STAGE will host the tropical vibes with WILL SOFTLY and guests playing the perfect sounds to accompany a relaxing chill time on the newly man made beach, while guests will be treated to fine dining in the all new ‘Barefoot Diner’ on Treasure beach, serving the finest authentic Caribbean Cuisine with diners able to view menu and pre-book their table from irieland.tv ahead of their arrival at Electric Picnic. The Kingston 12 Cafe will bring its rootsy charm with Selector Joey Old School & will house Donna’s Juice Bar, serving refreshing tropical juices.
A full family friendly programme for the younger festival goer will be on offer with Drumming & Dance workshops (timetable TBA at a later date).
