Hard Working Class Heroes returns to the streets and venues of Dublin over three days in October from Thursday October 3rd to Saturday October 5th.

Now in its ELEVENTH year the festival is calling on Ireland’s musicians, bands and singer-songwriters to apply for the chance to play and take part in this internationally recognized event.

Applications will be through FMC’s own Breaking Tunes site log on to http://www.hwch.net. now and click on the “BANDS APPLY HERE” button. Closing date for applications is July 26. The judging panel for applications will be made up of music industry professionals from around the globe as well as international festival programmers.

HWCH Digital

Organisers also announced the launch of the inaugural Hard Working Class Heroes Digital, a major new component of the HWCH festival. HWCH Digital aims to directly mirror for tech companies working in the entertainment sector what HWCH does for music. HWCH Digital will provide 25 selected companies the chance to pitch to Venture Capitals and investors over the weekend as well as have access to mentoring, panels and tip sessions the same way bands have over the past ten years.

HWCH Digital has grown organically out of the increased engagement tech companies have had with HWCH in recent years, with companies such as 45Sound, Soundwave and WholeWorldBand showcasing their ideas and technologies.

This engagement, led directly to First Music Contact, the company that runs HWCH , organizing the week-long Music 3.0 project in May 2012 with Jim Carroll , On the Record which saw musicians and tech companies engage in debate and discussion on how technology is driving the future of the music industry.

We were really encouraged by the success of this week and it was quickly decided to formalise this into a dedicated component of the HWCH festival– thus HWCH Digital was born.” Says FMC and HWCH Director Angela Dorgan

HWCH Digital is being supported by NDRC, an independent enterprise dedicated to building high-impact new ventures. Their collaborative approach with technology and business innovators has proven to drive greater collective success while cultivating bolder attitudes towards invention and investment.

The successful collaboration has been highlighted by NDRC LaunchPad graduate and HWCH 2012 participant, Soundwave. Their technology allows users to instantly and easily share what music they are listening to on their phone and see what others are listening to on theirs. Last week they were officially launched in London by Stephen Fry with the app quickly topping download charts worldwide.

We call all technology innovators to apply for HWCH digital consideration also at hwch.net and follow 'TECH APPLY HERE' tab.

Events

Keeping up its high standard of additional events and activities there will be the HWCH conference, mentor sessions and band-tips section and more, with a host of international delegates on hand to share their wisdom and experience (thanks to the generous support of The Arts Council and Culture Ireland). As always, Hard Working Class Heroes promises to deliver a weekend of filled with spectacular collection of music and fun!

There will be opportunities for the digital/tech start-ups and the bands to work together over the course of the weekend. HWCH Digital aims to create an open forum for both worlds to learn from each other. More details on what HWCH and their partners for HWCH Digital, NDRC is available on http://www.hwch.net.

Closing date for Artist and Tech submissions is 26 July
