Radiohead released their last album King Of Limbs all the way back in 2011 and for any other act, you'd be forgiven for thinking they've been resting on their laurels since.  But Radiohead never do things as you'd expect.

News broke today that Thom Yorke and co. have in fact released a smartphone app!

Called PolyFauna, the band created the app in cooperation with UK design agency Universal Everything and it's availabel now for free on Apple and Android platforms.  They follow in the footsteps of other musical luminaries such as Brian Eno (Bloom, Scape) and Bjork (Biophilia) who have ventured into the world of smartphone apps that do something interesting with their music.

Here's how front man Thom Yorke sums it up:

"We have made an app called PolyFauna. PolyFauna is an experimental collaboration between us (Radiohead) & Universal Everything, born out of The King of Limbs sessions and using the imagery and the sounds from the song Bloom. It comes from an interest in early computer life-experiments and the imagined creatures of our subconscious. Your screen is the window into an evolving world. Move around to look around. You can follow the red dot. You can wear headphones."

Download it now from the App Store or Google Play.
