Song of the week is a beautiful track from Rhodes, called “Close Your Eyes”. We’ve featured Rhodes on the show before, and I’m a big fan of his music. This song he says, is about vulnerability and trepidation. He said “it’s about my fear of performing. I wanted to make this a little more ambiguous so I changed it to the third person and made it more about me talking to somebody else-when really it’s me talking to myself.” He learned guitar and piano growing up – and joined a band as a bassist when he moved to London - he’s been compared to the likes of Jeff Buckley and Adele... He was late to singing as he says he was just too afraid to do it – he’s only been singing for the last 18 months or so... we’re glad he took the leap! He’s supported Ben Howard, London Grammar, George Ezra and Sam Smith while selling out his own shows. This is Rhodes with “Close Your Eyes” and it’s our Song of the Week.
