Taylor Swift has proven herself to be insightful and opinionated with an acclaimed piece she has written for the Wall Street Journal about the music industry in the era of social media.

The piece is filled with fascinating insights.

For example, she says that the celebrity autograph is all but dead:

She wrote: “I haven't been asked for an autograph since the invention of the iPhone with a front-facing camera. The only memento "kids these days" want is a selfie.”

Her other words of wisdom extend to twitter. And people in entertainment are getting jobs because of their Twitter followings:

She lamented: “A friend of mine, who is an actress, told me that when the casting for her recent movie came down to two actresses, the casting director chose the actress with more Twitter followers.”

“And In the future, artists will get record deals because they have fans—not the other way around.”

It’s not something Taylor needs to worry about – she has 66, 635, 846 likes on Facebook and 41.2 million followers on Twitter...

Regards her fans she said:

“I think forming a bond with fans in the future will come in the form of constantly providing them with the element of surprise. I believe couples can stay in love for decades if they just continue to surprise each other, so why can't this love affair exist between an artist and their fans?"

Does this mean the next time we see the Swifter on stage she’ll be throwing around a chainsaw! Fingers crossed.
