With just over a week until Electric Picnic 2014 kicks off it's time to start thinking about getting festival fit!

Check out our guide to everything you need to know before you pack:

  1. Bring a bag, preferably a rucksack - this is no place for a wheelie suitcase so leave it at home
  2. Pack in reverse order of things you need - keep fresh clothes for Sunday at the bottom of your bag so you can unpack little by little
  3. Leave the pillows at home – create a make-shift one by stuffing your sleeping bag cover with clothes
  4. Switch your sim card and use an old handset – you don’t want your smart phone falling down the loo...
  5. Talking about the loo, bring some olbus oil to put some under your nose to mask the nasty smell
  6. Pack earplugs for a good night’s sleep – you might find them useful if you’re enjoying the music from the front of a stage
  7. Make yourself a simple first-aid kit with blister plasters, insect bite spray, Dioralyte sachets, etc
  8. Bring a disposable camera for snapshots
  9. Head torch – invaluable for late night portaloo trips and also handy for finding things in your tent
  10. Bin bags: these can be used for wet clothes or even as rain ponchos if you cut a hole in the bottom
  11. Waterproofs: poncho, wellies – let’s face it, you will most likely need them
  12. Keep the toiletries light: dry shampoo and baby wipes are handy
  13. Sunblock – you never know, you might need it
  14. Duct tape: it can be used for many different things such as fixing minor holes in tents, reinforcing wellies, etc
  15. Pitching the tent: choose a spot as far away from the toilets as you can because it won’t be long before the smell becomes unbearable
  16. Mark your tent with a flag so you can make it out on the horizon
  17. Bring some midnight snacks for munchies
  18. Make sure to bring a print out of the festival timetable (coming soon here)
  19. Leave a change of clothes and fresh shoes in the car – make sure you can drive home all snug and warm
  20. Have fun and smile!
