One of the more innovative rock bands of the 1980s, Andrew Eldritch’s The Sisters of Mercy have not committed themselves to record since the early 1990s. They originally ceased in an act of protest against their recording company who they finally parted ways with in 1997. Instead, the band continue to tour, perform new material and fan favourites from a relatively small yet influential back catalogue.
There were three Sisters album, each one with a different line-up and with the only constants being Eldritch as primary songwriter and Doktor Avalanche the drum machine. The three albums – First and Last and Always, Floodland and Vision Thing – are all considered classics in their own right.
