Shamir Bailey aka Shamir, is an American singer and songwriter from Las Vegas, Nevada. His debut extended play (EP), Northtown, was released in June 2014 to glowing reviews. In October 2014 Shamir signed to XL Recordings and released the single "On the Regular." and His debut LP Ratchet has just hit the shops like a discorainbow. 

Shamir not just wears his influences on his dayglo sleeve but namechecks throughout this dancefloor botherer. From Taylor Swift to Michael Jackson he enfuses each track with infectious glittery beats and it does help that he has an incredible voice to back up the boogie. 

Shamir makes a killer disco-house diva, as is deliciously evident on the likes of "Call It Off" and "Head in the Clouds," but can go deep when he wants to. There's a serious bang o' Tracy Chapman to slow jam "Demon," for example.
