As the front woman for M People Heather Small was one of THE voices of the 90’s and ahead of her live return the singing star tells Anton she still gets nervous before going on stage, despite playing to millions in the band’s heyday.
Over the course of an entertaining chat, Anton finds out about Heather’s backstage near misses with Big Barry White and even bigger Tom Jones, and she also reveals just what she sings when she’s out an about.
The star who gave us such songs as ‘One Night In Heaven’, ‘Moving On Up’, ‘Search for A Hero’ and her own solo smash ‘Proud’ (which Oprah Winfrey adopted as her theme song for her 20th Anniversary) also reveals just what went on when a host of stars, including the late David Bowie, Bono, Elton John, and Tom Jones, assembled to record ‘Perfect Day’ for People In Need in 1997. She was also honoured that Oprah chose her song over millions of others to sum up her 20 year career at the top.

Heather Small is in Dublin for one night at Vicar Street on Sunday March 20 as part of a UK and Ireland tour, her first live performances in 4 years. Tickets are on sale now from ticketmaster.ie
