We love a good party, and we especially love a good 3 DAY PARTY! We’re inviting you to our gaff, The Workman’s Club on Wellington Quay for a deadly mid-summer extravaganza. Step right up to The Wellington Weekender, taking place from Friday 27 June to Sunday 29 June.
Celebrations kick off on Friday from 8 bells and run straight through til late on Sunday. We’ve got a heap of the best live music performances over the weekend. On Friday night, we’ll have the awesome Belfast-based four-piece Girls Names lifting the roof off the place (Doors from 8pm). Pitchfork, NME and Loud & Quiet (not to mention a host of others) LOVE Girls Names. You will too. Expect reverb-heavy guitars and compelling melodies. Support on the night comes in the shape of the brilliant Women’s Christmas. Son Christmas, Boy Christmas and Kid Christmas make up a holy trinity of boozy alt-rock wonky joy. Miss at your peril.
On Saturday, why not come and check out our Roof Top Market, which opens at 1pm and runs until 6pm that evening. Our market will be filled to bursting with tapes and vinyl, books and magazines, vintage clothes, fresh baked treats and of course your favourite tipple! Browse all sorts of eclectic wares and snack on some truly delicious bites. PLUS, we’ve also got the Bison Bar's Firewing Challenge happening on the Saturday, kicking off at 2pm. We need teams of 3 contenders, and it will be relay style. Each contender must finish 4 double wings. The first team member must finish before the second can start and first team to finish completely wins the round. The winning team from each round will nominate a member for a final round to determine the overall champs. The sauce comes in at 6.4 million Scoville units. HOT! The winners of each round get certificates and a free cocktail and the overall champs get the Bison Firewing Champions belt plus Bison Bucks. We’ll also have a nice mouth-cooling cocktail prepared especially for the event. Do you have tastebuds of steel and a mouth made of asbestos? Then WE WANT YOU! If you want to be in our Firewing Challenge then you’ll need to sign up by Thursday, 26 June – send an email to pitboss@bisonbar.ie. Bison Bar will also have a stall in the market between 1pm and 6pm on Saturday, selling pulled pork sandwiches. Delish! We’ve also got the amazing gang from The Ink Factory hitting the market. Our neighbours on Wellington Quay, The Ink Factory offers custom tattooing, barbering and coffee all under the one roof and they’re bringing their stuff ‘round to ours for the day! They’ll be allowing you to try your hand at tattooing – have a lash at tattooing a melon or a banana, always a load of fun. They’ll be piercing all day, too. Need your barnet doing? These lads will be available for all your barbering needs - they are the best in town and can give you the sharpest do around, What more could you ask for?
