Maybe it is just the Irish but there is something about a ‘hot summer’ that doesn’t seem so scary. The fact we didn’t get a summer at all... now that’s truly terrifying!

Ahead of playing Electric Picnic this weekend, today the Villagers shared a new animated video for their single Hot Scary Summer. 

Taken from their recent album Darling Arithmetic, the video itself is like looking into fire, addictive, mesmerising and at times, trippy. 

Apparently, the song rakes over the break-up of a love affair blighted by ‘all the pretty young homophobes looking out for a fight’
