120 million girls - or slightly over one in ten girls around the world has been sexually abused - according to a report by UNICEF.

Drawing on data from 190 countries, the UN children's agency also says that 95 thousand children and teens were murdered in 2012; most of them in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The report says while violence rises during war - overall, war accounts for just a small share of attacks on children.

The study also revealed that about six out of 10 children aged between two and 14 were subjected to physical punishment from their carers on a regular basis
