AirAsia Indonesia has confirmed that debris found earlier today is that from flight 'QZ8501', the plane that lost contact with air traffic control on Sunday morning.

Indonesia's search and rescue agency says the debris was found in the Karimata Strait around 110 nautical miles south west from Pangkalan Bun.

More than 40 bodies have already been found in the sea.

There were 155 passengers on board -including 137 adults, 17 children and 1 infant along with 2 pilots, 4 cabin crews and one engineer.

Tom Phillips, correspondent with The Telegraph, has the latest today.

Meanwhile, passengers on board an Air Asia flight to Kalibo in the Philippines have reported their plane overshot the runway.

People said on social media they had to use the emergency slides to get off.
