Those who discovered the fruit cake in a rusty tin think it looks fresh and 'almost edible'.
The cake is believed to date to Robert Falcon Scott's Terra Nova Expedition between 1910 and 1913 and was preserved in sub zero temperatures.
Fruit cake is still a favourite item on modern trips to the ice due to it's high energy values.
