There's been an increase of nearly 11 per cent in the number of HSE senior managers.
According to figures released to the Irish Times under Freedom of Information laws, there were 273 in the system in 2011.
This year, 303 people are in positions classed as 'Grade 8' or above, an jump of 10 point 9 per cent.
The HSE provided the figures in an internal report to a government committee that monitors the health service.
