Police in Brussels have arrested 12 people suspected of planning terrorist attacks at Belgium's Euros game this weekend.

They were detained in a series of raids over the last 24 hours.

Authorities searched over 40 houses and 152 garages and detained 12 people - they say are suspected of planning new attacks.

According to Flemish broadcaster VTM, the people arrested were suspected of planning an attack this weekend during one of Belgium's football games in the Euros.

Belgium takes on Ireland in the competition in Bordeaux this afternoon.

A statement from the federal prosecutor's office says a total of 40 people were questioned after the raids.
