The Organisation'Â’s Annual report shows that nearly 12,000 people contacted the organisation last year.
Speaking at the launch of the Rape Crisis Centre’s annual report, Bernie described her shock at being raped in her 40s, in her marital home.
The organisation says it's struggling to meet the demand for face to face therapy for victims of sexual violence.
Bernie - who was counselled at the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre - refuses to call herself a victim of rape.
She received a standing ovation at the event, for her bravery in speaking out about her experiences.
Helen Vaughan reports.
