Students moving away from home to go to college could end up paying up to €1,500 a month for accomodation.

The Residential Tenancies Board says rent in Tralee, Athlone, Limerick, Cork and Galway will cost between €600 and €900 a month

But to rent a place in Maynooth in Co Kildare or in Dublin could cost up to €1,500 a month.

The Board has produced a checklist for students who are renting for the first time.
