At least 16 people are reported to have died in a shooting at a West African beach resort.

Witnesses say attackers opened fire with rifles yesterday, as they entered the L'Etoile du Sud (Southern Star) hotel on the Ivory Coast, which is popular with tourists.

It was one of three hotels targeted by the Al Qaeda, according to the country's Interior Ministry.
