An 18-year-old boy has died at Cork University Hospital after falling ill at a house party on Monday night.
He was hospitalised after ingesting the psychoactive substance, N-Bomb, at the party in Cork City.
The boy, who is from Millstreet in Cork, has been in a critical condition since Tuesday but Gardai have confirmed that he passed away at the facility this afternoon.
A number of others were treated in hospital but have since been released.
A 29 year old man was arrested in connection with the supply of the drug and was later released without charge.
A file is being prepared for the DPP.
N-Bomb is a stimulant with hallucinogenic effects and it is a controlled drug under Irish law.
The World Health Organization has reported a number of deaths from the drug in other countries, including Australian, Britain and the United States.
Through a HSE spokesperson, the boy's family has appealed for privacy.
