Gardai are appealing for witnesses after a 19 year old man was seriously injured in a crash in Longford in the early hours of this morning.

Five people were travelling in the car when it crashed into a ditch at around 4 O'Clock on the Ferefad to Ballymacormack road.

A 19 year old man was taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital in Mullingar where he is being treated for serious injuries.

The driver and the other passengers of the car were uninjured.

The road is currently closed and any witnesses are being asked to contact Longford Garda station.
