Enterprise Ireland says more than 19,700 new jobs were created by its client Companies last year.
After job losses were taken into account more than 8,400 new positions were created - the highest net gain in the agency's history.
Enterprise Ireland client companies now employ more than 180,000 people full-time and part-time.
The agency also says the number of job losses was the lowest level recorded since the year 2000.
