A man has been arrested after trying to enter Leinster House armed with a sword and two knives this afternoon.
The 19-year-old entered the Leinster House complex through the main vehicle entrance on Kildare Street at around 25 to 5.
He was holding a ceremonial-style sabre sword, and had more weapons concealed in his shoes.
However the main entrances to Leinster House were immediately locked, and the intruder was apprehended by Gardaí at the scene.
One officer received minor injuries to his fingers during the incident.
The man's been taken to Pearse Street garda station, where he can be held for up to 24 hours.
Leinster House was quiet this afternoon, with only a handful of politicians present, as the Dáil only returns from its Easter recess tomorrow.
