A man and a woman are due in court in connection with an attempted raid at a filling station at Usher Quay in Dublin 8 last night.
The incident happened at around 9pm when two raiders armed with knives and wearing balaclavas threatened staff and demanded cash.
They fled the scene empty handed.
A short time later officers in a patrol car spotted a man and woman in their 30s on Thomas Street.
Both suspects were arrested and knives recovered.
They were brought to Kevin Street Garda Station for questioning and are due in court later this morning.
