A judge has called on the local council to demolish a footbridge in Tallaght following an assault there that led to the tragic death of 20 year old Dale Creighton.

Judge Anthony Halpin has called the bridge an ‘unholy health risk’.

‘It presents a danger to the community because a person who finds himself on this bridge in difficulties is caged in without any prospect of escape. I think it should be demolished and closed as of today’, he said at a sitting of Tallaght District Court.

His comments were made as two more men were brought before the courts in connection with the attack.

Gerard Stevens (24) and Jason Beresford (20), both from the Tallaght area, are charged with violent disorder.

The two men have been remanded on bail to appear at Dublin District Court on January 16th.

It brings to eight the total number of people charged following the 4am New YearÂ’s Day assault on Dale Creighton.

The 20 year old was hospitalised with head injuries and died last Thursday.

Gardai say there are a significant number of witnesses to the incident which was captured on CCTV.
