2015 was by far the hottest year in recorded history.
NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration have revealed that last year was the earth's hottest in 136 years of record-keeping.
The average temperature was 0.90 degrees celcius above the 20th century average.
The sharp increase was driven in part by El Nino, but scientists say human activities - notably burning fossil fuels - were the main driver behind the rise.
