Revenue has seized more than €24,500 in cash in Dundalk.

The money was discovered by sniffer dog Bill during searches in two houses yesterday.

The searches came as part of an operation targeting the illegal importation, supply and sale of tobacco products.

Officers suspect the seized cash is the proceeds of crime, or had intended to be used in criminal activity.

They have been given permission by a court to keep it for three months while they investigate.
