A 25 year old man is due to appear in court in Cork this morning to be charged in connection with the murder of a mother of three in the city earlier this week.

61 year old Marian Horgan was attacked in her house on Murmont Avenue in Moneneotte on the North side of Cork city at around 8 am on Monday morning.

She died after sustaining stab wounds. Her husband Billy also sustained serious injuries in the attack.

A man was arrested close to the scene and will be brought before Cork District Court this morning .
