A 25-year old man has been charged with the murder of his mother in Cork city earlier this week.
61 year old Marian Horgan was stabbed to death at her home on Murmont Avenue in Montenotte on Monday morning.
The mother of three was pronounced dead at the scene by a local doctor.
Cork District Court heard earlier that Paul Horgan made no reply to the charge when it was put to them.
Judge Leo Malone directed that the 25 year old be psychiatrically examined while in prison.
He will appear in court again on December 1st.
