Team Ireland athletes have won a silver and two bronze on first day of the Special Olympics World Summer Games.

22 year old Cork swimmer Sean Coleman took silver in 25m backstroke in Los Angeles, while 20 year old Gary McEnroe from Tallaght scooped bronze.

Sarah Jane Johnston from Lurgan in Co. Armagh also won a bronze medal for Ireland in the pool, in 100m backstroke.

There are 88 Irish athletes in LA for the World Summer Games.
