The Tanaiste and Foreign Affairs Minister confirmed the release of the members of the Irish family this afternoon.

Eamon Gilmore says their release follows telephone contact with the Egyptian Foreign Minister on Monday, during which he expressed the Irish Government's concern that the Halawa's were being held without charge.

Their 17-year-old brother was also jailed by Egyptian security forces on August 17th last.

Ibrahim Halawa, who is still being held without charge, will appear in court in Cairo on Saturday.
