Web Summit 2015 kicks off in Dublin this morning with more than 30-thousand people expected to descend on the RDS.

Author Dan Brown, Instagram founder Mike Krieger and President of Pixar & Disney animation Ed Catmull are just some of the high-profile guests.

It's been a stormy build up to Web Summit 2015 with the news that the event will move to Lisbon from next year.

Added to that was the news that Taoiseach Enda Kenny's invite to the event was only sent after 9pm last Friday - asking him to confirm by Sunday afternoon.

The Taoiseach and most government ministers now won't be in attendance at the event.

But more than 30-thousand people will be rubbing elbows with ambitious and successful start-ups from around the world.

There's 9 stages hosting events througout the day - covering the latest issues affecting technology, sport, the media, enterprise and society.

The Web Summit will run until Thursday afternoon.
