300 million euro is to be invested in social housing - with 2,000 homes due over the next three years.

It's the first time the European Investment Bank has entered the Irish housing market.

The cramped bedroom in St. Mary's Mansions, which Cluid Housing association hopes to refurbish, with the aid of funding from the European Investment Bank.

Stairs in St. Mary's Mansions;

Killarney Court in Dublin 1 was refurbished in the early 2000s. The complex was formerly known as St. Joseph's Mansions and was a blackspot for drugs.

It's hoped that St. Mary's Mansions will be brought up to this standard.
