At least 357 people have been killed following a strong earthquake in Yunnan province in south west China.

More than 12,000 homes collapsed when the quake - measuring 6.3 - struck in the middle of the afternoon.

Reports from the region say rescuers are struggling to reach those affected in more remote towns.
