300 people including four Irish citizens have had a miraculous escape after their plane crash landed and went on fire at Dubai airport.

Photos on social media show thick black smoke rising into the air from the Emirates Boeing triple-7.

The pilot reportedly told passengers arriving on the flight from India that there was a landing gear problem.

The Emirates Airline says there are no fatalities and all passengers and crew are accounted for and safe.

The Department of Foreign Affairs say that the Irish embassy in Abu Dhabi is in contact with local authorities after a plane crash in Dubai.
