5 men are still in Garda custody after a bomb was discovered on the border.
The arrests were made during an armed Garda operation in County Louth.
The suspects are aged between 50 and 70 and are being held at Drogheda and Dundalk Garda stations.
An army bomb disposal unit dismantled the device during the early hours of the morning.
