Tributes are being paid to a five-year-old boy who drowned in Dublin.

The incident happened at an artificial lake near his home in the Belgree Lawns area of Tyrrelstown.

The boy was found in the water after wandering off from his home at around 9.30 this morning.

Gardai are describing his death as a terrible accident, while Fingal County Council, which operates the park, is offering its sympathies to the boy's family.

Earlier this month, a 13-year-old boy drowned in a similar man-made lake in Waterville Hall in nearby Blanchardstown.
