500 additional emergency shelter places are being made available to rough sleepers in Dublin between now and Christmas.

It's part of the Dublin Region Homeless Executive's Cold Weather Initiative, which stepped up efforts to tackle the problem after the death of Jonathan Corrie last year.

The breakdown sees 195 beds for individuals, 55 units for couples and 80 rooms for families added to the places already provided by the executive.
