Over 50 thousand people have been caught using their phone behind the wheel in the past two years - with many taking selfies and live streaming while driving.
That's around 68 drivers a day, according to Garda figures obtained by the Irish Daily Mail.
In a recent poll, one in four people admitted to scrolling through Facebook and twitter behind the wheel.
Gardai say that more and more they are stopping people are live streaming on social media or taking selfies while driving.
Enforcement of the legislation is said to still be in an issue with just nine drivers prosecuted and three convicted since the law restricting mobile phone use was brought in 4 years ago.
