More than 52,000 students will receive their first round CAO offers this morning.
A new points system is in place for the first time in 25 years to reflect changes in Leaving Cert grading.
Figures from the Irish Times show that points have dropped for more than half of all honours degree courses - including in areas such as teaching, engineering and nursing.
Many courses in areas such as law and architecture, meanwhile, have seen points increase.

Students are being advised that they have until next Monday evening to accept their offers, with the CAO expecting around 99% of offers to be accepted online.
