A 53 year old man is due before a special sitting of the Special Criminal Court around now, in connection with dissident republican activity.

The man was arrested on Wednesday as part of an ongoing investigation by Gardaí from Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan, assisted by Gardaí from the Special Detective Unit, Harcourt Square .

He will appear at the Criminal Courts of Justice this evening where he will be formally charged.
