More than half of non-resident fathers make no financial contribution to their children - according to new research.

The national federation of services for unmarried parents and kids, Treoir, looked at two age cohorts in the Growing Up in Ireland study.

It found that the children in one parent families are no worse off than those living in households with two parents, according to new research.

The research looked at 11,000 different families, incuding one parent and two parent families, as well as co-habiting couples.
