3 thousand 700 new jobs will be created by the new ChildrenÂ’s Hospital in Dublin, with another 2 thousand 300 positions during construction.
Project Director for the hospitalÂ’s Development Board, John Pollock, describes plans for the new site in Dublin 8.
The 650 million euro project – to be built on the site of St James’ Hospital – will create 3 thousand 700 new health jobs in the facility itself.
On top of that, there will be 2 thousand construction jobs and 300 service positions while itÂ’s being built.
Project Director, John Pollock, says 10 per cent of the construction staff will be people who were long term unemployed or on apprenticeships.
The planning process for the new ChildrenÂ’s Hospital continues, with its first hearing with An Bord Pleanala on Friday this week.
A final decision on the design of the project is expected by mid February.
Independent Chair of the Community Oversight Group, Gordon Jayes, says they want the hospital to benefit local people and their community.
