A 62-year-old man has been charged with the murder of 74 year old Anthony O Mahony in North Kerry.

Mr O'Mahony died after his car was involved in a crash with a teleporter in Rattoo, Ballyduff yesterday.

Michael Ferris of Rattoo, Ballyduff appeared before Tralee District Court this morning charged with murder.  

The farmer who was dressed in a dark grey suit and blue shirt was brought to court by detectives.  Details of arrest charge and caution were given in court. Mr Ferris made no reply when charged. 

His solicitor said he was concerned for his clients mental state and an order was made to ensure he receives all appropriate medical care.

Mr Ferris is likely to apply to the high court next week for bail.
