Seven thousand homes are still without power this morning following storms around the country yesterday.

Parts of west Donegal and South Galway are the worst affected - power crews will begin work at first light.

Meanwhile, heavy snow has been reported in several parts of the country this morning.
Sorm force winds continued to batter the country overnight - with gusts of up to 150 kilometres recorded in the North West.

7-thousand homes are still without power - with West Donegal and South Galway worst affected. While pockets of Clare, Cork, Limerick, Mayo, Kildare and Wicklow are also still powerless.

ESB says it will redeploy resources to get everyone back on the grid.

Meanwhile, a 23-year-old woman was killed when a tree fell on her car in Mullingar, Co Westmeath yesterday afternoon.

And in Cork City, Platforms 1 and 2 at Kent Station are closed this morning after yesterday's roof collapse

This morning, heavy snow is reported around Sligo town, North Tipperary, Offaly and Laois.

Met Éireann is warning the winds will continue but forecaster Vincent O'Shea says they've downgraded their nationwide alert.
