Over 71 thousand calls were made to housing charity Threshold in 2016.
There was a major increase in complaints about poor living standards, while a third of the calls were in relation to landlords selling the property.
Housing Minister Eoghan Murphy will launch Threshold's annual report later today.
CEO of Threshold John Mark McCafferty says it's a tricky situation, 'For some of those cases there's very little we can do if the landlord is on the right side of the law. But for many people our Tenancy Protection Service were able to talk with the landlord and ensure the family stayed in their home'.
