Gardai in Co. Clare are treating the death of a 74 year old woman in Ennis as as a tragic accident.
The woman died after being hit by her own car on Francis Street at around twenty to two this afternoon.
She'd been putting shopping into the back of her car, when the vehicle unexpectedly reversed knocking her to the ground.
Her six year old grandson was in the car at the time, while a second grandchild was standing close by.
Both children escaped uninjured but are being treated in hospital for shock.
The lady has been named locally as Josie Lucas.
Local councillor Mary Howard is a neighbour of Mrs Lucas, she's expressed her deepest sympathies to the family.
