A six-year-old boy's in a serious condition in hospital, after being hit by a van in Dublin.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the incident - which happened just before 5 o'clock on Friday evening, on the Shanganagh Road in Shankill.

The van was travelling in the direction of Shankill Village, when it was involved in a collision with the boy.

The driver of the van's been interviewed by gardaí.

The boy's been taken to Temple Street Children's Hospital in a serious condition.
