The latest figures from the Department of Housing show 7,941 were without a home - and 2,895 of them children.
The demographic most in need of housing was those aged 25-44, while 46 and a half per cent of our homeless population are aged under 24.
The Department says progress has been made in moving families out of hotel and B&B accommodation with just 638 in receipt of this kind of emergency accommodation in June.
